Michael Pollan is one of the nations leading writers and thinkers in this country on the issue of food. He is author of several books about food, including The Botany of Desire, The Omnivores Dilemma and his latest, In Defense of Food: An Eaters Manifesto. @Youexposed1 Yep, there are two of the ads for broccoli on YouTube. They’re funny. Just search for “The Miracle Food Broccoli” and they’re among the top 5 results.

@frostinad It not impossible to survive winter on ONLY fresh, ripe, local, organic, uncooked, plant foods? Really? I live in PEI, trees are just budding out for the first time today. We will have freezing temp by Nov. How, pray tell, do you expect me to eat organic, local produce when we can’t grown food crops locally half the year? I do ok with frozen veg, home canned stuff, meat, fish, whole grains etc. You could not eat locally and be a raw food vegan here. You’d die.

@MichaelnChristine It’s not impossible. Join a CSA. Anyway, I’ts about making the choices that are possible. You don’t have to go to the extreme. I think it’s enough to be educated and go from there.

@rawzone1 Give me the next ten words on how to accomplish this. I’d like you to back up your opinion by explaining how anyone outside of a coastal zone can possibly survive winter on ONLY fresh, ripe, local, organic, uncooked, plant foods. I’ll give you a hint, it is IMPOSSIBLE.

The topic of food is now so controversial, it is (sadly) getting right up there with politics and religion. Obviuosly, its best to grow your own, or at least try to EAT only FRESH, RIPE, LOCAL, ORGANIC, UNCOOKED, plant foods.

Great advice Michael! Something hilarious though. . . . broccoli now has a series of commercials here in Canada. There’s been 4 or 5 so far and they’re airing a LOT.
